- International Network on Disability Creation Process - The International Network on the Disability Creation Process (INDCP) is a not-for profit organisation aiming at the development and dissemination of knowledge centred on social change and optimum social participation of people with disabilities. INDCP values interdisciplinary, cross-disability and transgenerational perspectives: all disciplines, impairments and disabilities, as well as age groups are included.
Since 1986, the INDCP has developed the Disability Creation Process (DCP), an explicative model of the causes and consequences of disease, trauma and other disruptions to a person's integrity and development. Disease, trauma and other disruptions to a person's integrity and development may cause impairments and lead to temporary or permanent disabilities which could be static, progressive, or regressive. It is nevertheless the different obstacles or facilitators met in their environment that, in correlation with their own disabilities, will hinder the accomplishment of life habits, compromise everyday life activities and social roles, as well as put them into a full social participation or total handicap situations.
Through the years, our organisation has been working closely with internartional partners to promote the taking into account of environmental factors as producers of situations of social exclusion for people who experiment different bodies and functionalities. We also have developped measurement tools for assessing the quality of social participation: the Assessment of Life-Habits (LIFE-H) and the Measure of the quality of the environment (MQE). Those instruments have been used by researchers from all over the world and are currently available in several languages.
